Bringing behavior-led design to life. An award-winning app that changed how people cook, and how teams think about UX.
Cook was conceived as a self-initiated innovation project by the founders of Behavjor to showcase the power of Human Centred Design (HCD). The goal was to create a digital product that didn’t just look beautiful, but genuinely helped people cook better at home by designing around human behavior, not just features.
Cook needed to stand out in a saturated app market, provide real utility in the kitchen, and demonstrate how a HCD process could produce something commercially viable, emotionally resonant, and globally scalable.
Every element of the Cook App, from its concept to its onboarding experience, was built using human-centered methods. The project was later featured throughout Jodie Moule’s book Killer UX Design as the core case study.
Our work included:
Behavioral Research & Insight Gathering
Understanding home cooking habits, pain points, and rituals.
Co-Creation & Ideation
Rapid sketching and concept development with real users.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Designing flows that mirrored natural kitchen behavior and decision-making.
Usability Testing & Iteration
Continuous testing cycles to refine navigation, pacing, and ease of use.

Cook stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design and strategic execution:
Rapid global adoption on launch.
Sustained interest across five years post-release.
Featured by Apple and displayed on iPads in Apple Stores worldwide.
Maintained top rankings in over 100 countries.
Featured throughout Killer UX Design as a gold-standard example.
Used in design education and referenced across UX communities internationally.
Cook was designed to demonstrate the power of customer-centred thinking. Not just to make something people could use, but something they’d love, return to, and talk about. It worked.
